Enhanced Control of Offshore Wind Farms Connected to MTDC Network Using Partially Selective DC Fault Protection

چکیده

In recent years, several dc fault clearance schemes have emerged, in which the reduced number of fast-acting circuit breakers (DCCBs) and ac (ACCBs) are used to clear faults. offshore grids, such approach entails opening ACCBs that connect wind farms high-voltage (HVDC) stations control voltages frequencies, potentially leading uncontrolled voltage frequency. Existing studies show loss converter due blocking or sudden can cause significant overvoltage overfrequency grid, could necessitate an immediate shutdown farm. Enhanced for turbine converters (WTCs) farm is proposed enable retention frequency when lost, seamless transition WTCs between grid following forming modes facilitated. The viability demonstrated a wider context partially selective protection illustrative meshed includes detailed implementations clearance, system restart, power transfer resumption. presented simulation results confirm effectiveness WTC preventing excessive rise facilitating ride-through using DCCBs.

Investigation on Fault-ride Through Methods for VSC-HVDC Connected Offshore Wind Farms

Recently, there has been a fast development and deployment of wind energy to meet the increasing electrical power demand and to limit the use of fossil fuels. More and more wind farms are planned far from shore because of good wind condition and less visual impact. This is so called offshore wind farm (OWF). In such a situation, high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission is a favorable opt...

Mapping Seabird Sensitivity to Offshore Wind Farms

We present a Geographic Information System (GIS) tool, SeaMaST (Seabird Mapping and Sensitivity Tool), to provide evidence on the use of sea areas by seabirds and inshore waterbirds in English territorial waters, mapping their relative sensitivity to offshore wind farms. SeaMaST is a freely available evidence source for use by all connected to the offshore wind industry and will assist statutor...

Optimal Maintenance Management of Offshore Wind Farms

Nowadays offshore wind energy is the renewable energy source with the highest growth. Offshore wind farms are composed of large and complex wind turbines, requiring a high level of reliability, availability, maintainability and safety (RAMS). Firms are employing robust remote condition monitoring systems in order to improve RAMS, considering the difficulty to access the wind farm. The main obje...
